What TV quiz show contestant received 500 marriage proposals?

Re: Show Biz Trivia 15 - 02/01/13 08:33 AM

Charles Van Doren.

The question of Judy Garland's salary seems to differ, depending on where you read. One place says she made $500 a week, and the dog was the only character who made less. Even Margaret Hamilton made $1000 a week, when she was working (she spent 6 weeks convalescing from burns suffered from special effects when she disappeared in a puff of smoke from Munchinkinland. She refused to have anything more to do with special effects, and one of her doubles was also injured, it says here).

Speaking of The Wizard of Oz, who played the most parts in the movie?

Re: Show Biz Trivia 15 - 02/02/13 07:33 PM

That has to be Frank Morgan. In addition to the Wiz and his Kansas character, he was also the gatekeeper at Oz and some kind of military guard inside. I think he was also driving the carriage pulled by the horse of a different color. Assuming that's right...

For whom was the role of the Wizard written and why didn't he play the role?
