This looks so forlorn!

Although I am still saving Barbara's and Anne Perry's Edith Wilson stories for last, I thought I'd mention that there is no story involving Mrs. Millard Fillmore.

Mrs. John Tyler (#2) rates one, though.

    Abigail Powers Fillmore

Although Mr. Fillmore didn't do much, Mrs. Fillmore did; she's the one who started the White House Library.

Which reminds me of another rather obscure president, although known for being the only one NOT elected by popular votes but in a runoff in the HOUSE (and Democrats to this day claim Samuel Tilden should have been the 19th president): Rutherford B. Hayes.

Mrs. H was known around Washington as Lemonade Lucy because she refused to allow liquor to be served at the White House.

There is also a hospital in Washington (John will have to refresh my memory on this one) that has a wing named for her (and, no, it isn't the alcohol ward).
