Congratulations on the nomination
Sorry to be a bit late with the congratulations, but I've been working at our Netherlands site for the last month, and the firewall there doesn't like this board.
I loved that story (of course), and I'm pleased to see it get the recognition it deserves.

The company I work for merged with our Dutch counterpart a few months ago. It didn't make much difference to most people, but the research devision got well and truly reorganised, and I ended up working for a Dutch-based department. I'm still based in the UK, but I was asked to go and work in the Dutch lab for a few months,as they had more work than people, and we had the opposite problem...
Since my husband's still working in the US, it seemed a good opportunity, and I've been working in the Netherlands for the last month or so. Unfortunately, the company laptop I was given insists on accessing the web through the firewall, which has taken a dislike to your bulletin board. I'm home for the weekend, catching up on a lot of things

One whose employees get too used to having a spool chucker, by the looks of things...

I wasn't going to ask. I was determined not to ask. So all right already, I'm asking. What on earth is a spool chucker?

Well, not that it answers the question of what sort of company she works for, but....

At a guess, she's been looking at reports and such, where the employees ran the SPELL CHECKER, but never proofread after that. Thus, they've just been using a SPOOL CHUCKER!

Correct. "Spool chucker" was one I saw in the newsgroups for my ISP and its favoured email/news software, shortly after said software acquired a spell checker. Some of the resulting posts where people hadn't realised the thing had been "correcting" their spelling were quite entertaining.

Hey, Barbara, I finally made it onto your message board! Only six months or so, huh?
Of course I didn't do it alone; a friend helped me. But now I am registered and can visit again. I found this thread interesting but don't have anything to add at the moment.
